Marshmallow Support, Telegram Capture and More: FlexiSPY for Android Gets a Major Update

Note: When we published this article we were compatible with Android 6.0 – However, we are now compatible with 6.0.1 – yay! so we’ve updated this post to reflect that change.

Today we’re excited to introduce some major updates and new features to our Android client!

What’s new

Android Marshmallow support

Android Marshmallow is the latest and greatest version of Android yet. Not all phones running the Android OS platform have been updated to this version but slowly and surely carriers are rolling the option to update. This is a huge win for our development team, and an even bigger win for FlexiSPY customers that have been waiting for this news.

Of course, the phone doesn’t have to be using 6.0 for FlexiSPY to run. versions 4.0.3 to 6.0.1 are supported.

Telegram Capture

Telegram shook up the IM world with it’s highly encrypted, self destructing messages. We’ve gotten a lot of requests from you guys to be able to capture Telegram Messages so we’re so excited to be able to offer it as part of FlexiSPY.

VOIP Call Logs

Since our inception we’ve captured call logs, but times are changing and many people are now opting to use Messaging apps to make Voice Calls, instead of phone calls.

In response, we’ve added support for several popular Messaging clients that do voice calls, and you can now view the logs for the following apps:

  • Skype
  • Viber
  • Facebook
  • LINE

How to update

If you’re running FlexiSPY in full and limited mode, then you will be able to remotely update our app on the phone.

First, check if you are already running the most up to date version of FlexiSPY for Android. To do this, all you need to do is head to your dashboard and check to see if there’s a flashing update icon on the top-right hand side of your screen. update icon If the icon is there then you just click it and accept the agreement to update FlexiSPY on the phone.

If there is no flashing update icon then you’re already up to date.

When will Password Cracker going to work on Android 5.0+ ?

Our development team is working on this but we don’t have a definite timeline yet.

    Hi Coolrat,

For now, VoIP Call Recording is a feature only available on iPhone.

  3. FlexiSPYBlog Avatar

    Hi Fitiri,

We have both of these features 🙂

    Hi Ken,

Right now WhatsApp call recording is for iPhone only but our dev team is looking into adding it for Android.

    Hello Saeeda,

While we supported Nokia 5 years ago, they are now no longer making consumer phones. We’ve had to move with the times and focus development on the two main phone platforms; iPhone and Android.

That being said, we still do support Symbian phones running the Symbian Belle OS and the Symbian Anna OS. An example of a compatible model would be the Nokia X7.

    Hi Robert,

Ambient recording, and RemCam don’t require the device to be rooted 🙂

Could you tell us where you saw the information stating that these two features needed root access? We’ll need to sort out this misinformation.

    Thanks,
    FlexiSPY Team

    Hi Engr,

Right now WhatsApp Call Recording is an iPhone only feature but our Android development team is looking into it.

We will definitely keep you up to date with any more developments.

    Hi Widodo.

While we understand that monitoring software installing itself on the device as an administrator may seem a good way to stop the software from being unintentionally removed, please understand that the device owner can easily tell if an administrator has been added to the device.

That can then lead them to investigate where the administrator came from and, because they cannot uninstall it, they will think something is wrong with the device.

They can also just Google the name that the administrator is installed as and learn that Mspy is installed. That would then lead to them factory resetting the device as it is the only way for them to remove the software.

Because of that the software would need to be physically installed again and there is no guarantee that the same thing would not happen again.

Why you can’t add that feature and give users the option to choose which way to installs the app. With administration right or not? In some cases users don’t mind if target holder will see it.

      1. FlexiSPYBlog Avatar

Great feedback and we thought about this before. Installing an app as admin creates an admin account on the device. That admin account will stick out like a sore thumb. To make things worse, when the owner of the phone tries to remove the admin account they won’t be able to. Their next move would be a factory reset (bye bye FlexiSPY).

  9. FlexiSPYBlog Avatar

Well, the way that an unroot normally happens is when the phone’s owner performs a factory reset, so at that point FlexiSPY wouldn’t even be installed on the phone anymore. You’ll always need physical access to the phone to root the phone and to install FlexiSPY.

    Hope this helps!

In android version OS 5.1.1 lollipop there’s security manager. Is it one of kind of virus?

    1. FlexiSPYBlog Avatar

Do you mean Smart Manager (which is a Samsung App)

    Hi Dawn.

You can request a rooting guide to be made from our sister site, spyphonereview

Here’s where you should make your request – http://www.spyphonereview.com/spy-phone-review-root-android/

Hi, I have S6 Edge running on android 6.0.1. In Smart Manager there is an option called Device Security. The phone is new so I still didn’t activate it. Is it safe to activate knowing that i run FlexiSPY on full mode? Also, which antiVirus to install that will surely not detect your software in the phone? Thank you

    1. FlexiSPYBlog Avatar

      Hi Amirovsky,

If your phone is rooted you can get rid of Smart Manager completely using package disabler pro – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hecorat.packagedisabler&hl=en

Otherwise, when you activate FlexiSPY a warning will most likely appear. But, the warning should allow you to add FlexiSPY as an exception and FlexiSPY will then work fine.

Unfortunately, this means that the server and client are not communicating with each other. This can be due to TARGET device being turned off or no internet. Restarting the TARGET device is needed.

My license has expired a month ago The notice says I must renew my license to continue to monitor my target device. I didn’t renew at that time because of compatibility issue with the new Android OS 6.0.1 which was an automatic update. Now that the issue has been resolved, I am thinking or renewing. If I do renew, will the service be reinstated automatically, or will I have to reinstall?

    1. FlexiSPYBlog Avatar

Hey Sifufor. Yup! once you renew, as long as FlexiSPY is still running on the device it should start uploading data again within 24 hours, without the need to reinstall. You will also need to update the software to the latest version, which you can do from your online portal. Hope this helps!

On 12/23/16 I had flexispy installed on a Note 5, O.S. 6.0.1. I had many issues such as, automatic phone cut off, slow registering of commands, quick battery drainage even though I kept my files purged. I contacted tech center and went through many emails as to what the problem was or what I could do. In the end I was told that companies i.e. Sprint are updating their systems in order to monitor and catch spyware.
My question is have the issues with the software been resolved? I don’t want any attention drawn to the phone to indicate that anything is different with the phone. Even Sprint confirmed that someone was operating the phone through the O.S. through a remote location.
    Please advise.

    1. FlexiSPYBlog Avatar

Hi Stephanie. Sorry to hear about this. Please give me your ticket number so that I can investigate this for you fully.

    Hi Lindsey,

Thanks for getting in touch. We always appreciate recommendations to add to our ever-growing list of features and services. We currently support 18 of the world’s most widely-used IM and VOIP apps and will ask our development team to look at the plausibility of adding Fongo in the future.

Unfortunately, Incognito browsing is not supported at this time. Normally, all of your browsing is written to a local database, When you browse in Incognito mode it does not update the database, so it cannot be supported.

Thanks again for your recommendations and be sure to follow us on social media to stay on top of any new updates and developments.

    Best regards,
    The FlexiSPY Team
