Jailbreak iOS 8 / iOS 8.1 With Pangu On iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 5s, iPad And More

The Pangu jailbreak team recently released their iOS 8.1 jailbreak tool and we documented how to use it here. The downside to it was that it did not install Cydia as we are used to, so it meant that you had to manually install Cydia yourself – which is something of a technical task.

The good news though is that with the 1.1 release of the Pangu iOS 8.1 jailbreak tool it now also includes Cydia so this means you can literally jailbreak any iOS device running iOS 8.1 with one click – here is how you do it.

Step 1- Download Pangu

Originally Pangu was in Chinese only but there is now an English version which you can download from here.

Once you have downloaded it save the file to your PC in a save place such as the desktop.

Once downloaded run the program file to start the jailbreak process.

Connect your device running iOS 8.1 to your PC and wait for it to be identified.

start-jailbreak

Click the Start Jailbreak button to start the jailbreak process follow the instructions that are displayed using your device itself when asked and wait for the jailbreak process to complete. Your device will reboot several times during this process.

Once it has been completed you will see both Cydia and a Pangu icon on your device.

remove-pangu

To remove the Pangu icon do the following:

– Open Cydia
– Tap on the ‘Installed‘ option in the bottom bar.
– From the list of installed packages tap ‘Pangu loader for iOS‘.
– Tap Modify.
– Tap Remove.

This will now remove the Pangu icon from your device leaving it in its brand new untethered jailbroken state.

      Hi Samuel,

We aren’t compatible yet -no spy phone software manufacturer currently is- but rest assured that our developers are hard at work : )

Here’s a link that you can use to subscribe to our waiting list for iOS8 so that you’ll be notified as soon as we’re compatible!

Hi, I don’t understand “FlexiSPY does not run surreptitiously as it offers the user the choice of showing the icon on the device if required”. Flexispy is invisible or not ? Can we hide Cydia icon ? The target (the user) can see Flexispy ? Thank you for your answer.

      Hi Andrew,

Yes, FlexiSPY CAN be run invisibly, you are given the option to do so.

However, running a monitoring app such as FlexiSPY in hidden mode might not be legal depending on your local laws.

If it’s legal for you to do so, then yes, you can hide all traces of FlexiSPY and the Jailbreak on the phone.

Can the Cydia icon be hidden?

    1. FlexiSPYBlog Avatar

      Hello Ray.
[9:38:38 AM] Ian Walker: FlexiSPY allows you to hide both the Cydia icon and the Pangu icon that appears after you jailbreak an iOS 8.1 device.

You can read more about it here:

i have an iphone 5 version 6.1.2 with Verizon that i updated OTA to 7.0.6. Can I STILL JB my iphone to install Flexispy successfully? I have a Mac, so do I need to update through itunes for the program to work or should i update to 8.1.2 through itunes with the Mac?

    1. FlexiSPYBlog Avatar

      Hi Susan,

You can still jailbreak that particular iOS version as it is or you can update to the latest version of iOS (8.1.2) as that can be fully jailbroken too.

It may in fact be better to upgrade to the latest iOS and then jailbreak to make sure the iOS version is up to date.

      Thanks for contacting us.

I am a bit confused! I have an iPhone 5 , 6.1.2 that I updated OTA to 7.0.6. ( I now know this was a mistake, I should have connected my phone to the Mac to jb successfully)I read that apple patched this version and I can no longer jb that I would NOW have to update again but thru iTunes to the latest iOS version 8.1.2. to JB successfully. Is this true and is the software compatible for a Mac computer w/o downloading windows to my Mac n if not when will it work w just using the Mac w/o downloading windows ? Sorry for all the extra questions! Please advise

          Hi Susan,

You can upgrade your iPhone to the latest version of iOS (iOS 8.1.2) because there’s a jailbreak solution for it. Then you’ll need to install and activate FlexiSPY onto the jailbroken iPhone.

Here’s a guide that we’ve made that shows you how to perform the Jailbreak:

I’m confused! When apple patches any version of an iPhone , does that mean it can no longer be Jailbroken and we would have to wait for the next update to jb successfully?

When a new iOS version is released, it normally takes A week or two, to even a few months to make a Jailbreak.

So, it’s important that once a Jailbreak comes out, you should jailbreak as soon as possible.

You can then install an app on the phone called no-update, that will prevent the phone from being updated to a new iOS version for the future, that way, FlexiSPY will always be compatible.
