  • How To Root The LG Nexus 4

    This guide will show you how to root the popular LG Nexus 4 phone from LG.

    What is needed to root the LG Nexus 4?

    In order to root the LG Nexus 4you will need the following.

    • The LG Nexus 4 you want to root in your hand.
    • A PC.

    Step 1 – Set up the Android SDK environment on your PC

    Before you can run the rooting tools on your PC to root the Eye you must first set up the Android development environment correctly.

    In order to use Fastboot to root the LG Nexus 4 you must have the Android SDK downloaded and installed on to your computer.

    You can download the SDK from here.

    Step 2 – Download the LG Nexus 4 custom recovery

    In order to root the phone you simply download a root file to your PC which you can get here.  Once downloaded save it and extract it to an easy to access location on your PC such as the desktop.

    Step 3 – Download SuperSU

    Connect the LG Nexus 4 to your computer and download the SuperSU APK file from here and save it to your computer desktop.  Once saved on your computer, copy it to the connected device.

    Step 4 – Boot the LG Nexus 4 into Fastboot mode

    In order to run the root file you must boot the LG Nexus 4 in to bootloader mode which is done as follows:

    1. Make sure the LG Nexus 4 is turned off completely.
    2. Hold down the volume down key, volume up key and the power button until the phone starts up and you see green text and then connect it to your PC.

    Step 5 – Flash the custom recovery to the LG Nexus 4

    With the phone in Fastboot mode and it being connected to the PC do the following:

    • On your PC navigate to where you installed the Android SDK to from step 1 and go into the Platform-Tools folder where you will see exe.
    • Hold down the shift key and right-click in the window and choose Open Command Window Here
    • In the command window that appears type fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-mako.img and press Enter to flash the custom recovery file from step 2 to the device. When that has completed disconnect the device from your computer.

    Step 6 – Root the LG Nexus 4

    You now need to put the LG Nexus 4 in custom recovery mode.

    1. Make sure the LG Nexus 4 is turned off completely.
    2. Hold down the volume down key, volume up key and the power button until the phone starts up and you see start highlighted.
    3. Select Recovery from the list using the volume down key and press the power button to confirm.
    4. When the device boots in to recovery mode choose Install and browse to the SuperSU zip file you copied to the device in step 3.
    5. Once that has been flashed successfully restart the device.

    You should now see SuperSU is installed as a new application which means that the LG Nexus 4 is now rooted.

    This guide will show you how to root the popular Google Nexus 6 phone from Google.

    What is needed to root the Google Nexus 6?

    In order to root the Google Nexus 6 you will need the following.

    • The Google Nexus 6 you want to root in your hand.
    • A PC.

    Step 1 –Download the Galaxy Nexus rooting toolkit

    To root the phone you need to download the toolkit to your PC which you can get from here. Save it in an easy to find location and extract it to its own folder.

    Step 2 – Enable USB debugging on the Google Nexus 6

    In order for your PC to recognise the Google Nexus 6 when you plug it in to perform rooting you must first enable USB debugging on the phone itself. This is done by doing the following.

    1. Tap the Settings option.
    2. Tap the About Phone option.
    3. Keep tapping the Build Number option (seven times) until it says you are a developer.
    4. Tap the new Developer Options menu that appears.
    5. Make sure that the Enable OEM Unlock and the USB Debugging options are checked.

    Step 3 – Root the phone

    Rooting the phone requires two steps. Unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone. To do both of these follow the steps here.

    1. Connect the Google Nexus 6 to your PC and make sure it is recognised (tap OK on the Nexus 6 when the USB Debugging window appears on the device).
    2. Run the Nexus toolkit program you downloaded and extracted in step 2.
    3. Under the Unlock section click the Unlock button and follow the steps – THIS WILL DELETE ALL DATA ON THE DEVICE!
    4. The phone will reboot. Using the volume buttons select the option to unlock the bootloader and wait for it to finish.
    5. Once the bootloader has been unlocked, using the Nexus toolkit, under the Unlock section select Root.
    6. Follow the instructions and wait for it to finish. The phone will reboot once done.

    Once the phone has rebooted look for the new SuperSU icon. This means that you have successfully rooted the Google Nexus 6.

    This guide will show you how to root the LG Optimus L70.

    What is needed to root the LG Optimus L70?

    This Sony device can actually be rooted using the device itself. This means that you only need the LG Optimus L70 that you wish to root in your hand, unlike other Android phones this phone can be rooted without needing a PC.

    Step 1 – Enable the installation of unknown sources

    Rooting the LG Optimus L70 requires the use of the towelroot rooting software. This is software that you must download and run on the phone itself. Before you can do this however you need to enable the installation of unknown sources.

    On the phone itself go to Settings > Security and tap the Unknown Sources option (make sure it is checked).

    Step 2 – Download PurpleDrake

    Now that you have enabled the installation of unknown sources it is time to root the phone by downloading PurpleDrake. You can download it from here. Save the file to an easy to find location on your PC and extract it to its own folder.

    Step 3 – Root the phone

    You now need to connect the device to your PC and browse to the folder you extracted in step 2 and run the purpledrake_windows.bat file. Follow the instructions to root the device.

    Once the device has been rooted you must then use the device and go to the Play Store and download and install SuperSU. Once you have done that open and run SuperSU and let it update itself if asked.

    Once this has been done you should successfully have root access on the LG Optimus L70.

    This guide will show you how to root the LG Optimus Exceed 2.

    What is needed to root the LG Optimus Exceed 2?

    This Sony device can actually be rooted using the device itself. This means that you only need the LG Optimus Exceed 2 that you wish to root in your hand, unlike other Android phones this phone can be rooted without needing a PC.

    Step 1 – Enable the installation of unknown sources

    Rooting the LG Optimus Exceed 2 requires the use of the towelroot rooting software. This is software that you must download and run on the phone itself. Before you can do this however you need to enable the installation of unknown sources.

    On the phone itself go to Settings > Security and tap the Unknown Sources option (make sure it is checked).

    Step 2 – Download towelroot

    Now that you have enabled the installation of unknown sources it is time to root the phone by downloading towelroot.

    Open the phone browser.

    Navigate to https://towelroot.com/

    Tap the main icon to download the APK file.

    Save the APK file to your phone.

    Step 3 – Root the phone

    Now that you have downloaded towelroot on to the phone please run it.

    On the screen that appears tap the make it ra1n option.

    Wait for the rooting process to complete.

    After towelroot completes you need to install SuperSU. To do this you go to the Play Store and download and install SuperSU which is a free application.

    When you have downloaded SuperSU, run it and let it update itself.

    Once this has been done you should successfully have root access on the LG Optimus Exceed 2.

    Step 1 – Download the LG Optimus USB driver for your PC

    So that the phone is recognised for when you plug it in to your PC you must download the LG Optimus Exceed USB drivers and install them – you can get them from here.

    Step 2 –Download the LG Optimus Exceed root files

    In order to root the phone you must first download the root file batch file which you can get from here. Download the file and save it in an easy to find location such as your desktop and extract it to its own folder.

    Step 3 – Root the LG Optimus Exceed

    Now that we have downloaded the necessary files it is time to start rooting the LG Optimus Exceed.

    The first thing that needs to be done is to enable USB Debugging on the device.

    To do this, on the device itself, go to Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging and make sure the option is checked.

    If you do not see the Developer Options menu go to Menu > Settings > About Phone > Software Information and tap the Build Number option until it tells you that you are a developer and that developer options have been enabled.

    Connect the phone to your PC.

    Choose USB LG Mode as the connection type when prompted on the device.

    Browse to the folder you extracted in step 2 and run the windows-install.bat file. Follow the on-screen prompts to root the device.

    Once the process has finished you should now see SuperSU installed meaning your successfully rooted the LG Optimus Exceed.

    What do you need to root the LG Lucid 4G?

    In order to root the LG Lucid 4G you will need the following:

    • The LG Lucid 4G you wish to root in your hand
    • Access to a PC

    Step 1 – Download and install ADB and the USB drivers on to your PC

    For your PC to recognise the device once connected to your PC you must first download and install ADB on to your PC and also download the USB drivers for your phone and install them on to your PC.

    Step 2 – Download the root package for the LG Lucid 4G

    You will need to download a root package to root the device. You can get it from here.

    Save the download to an easy to find location on your PC such as your desktop and extract it to its own folder.

    Step 3 – Enable USB debugging on the LG Lucid 4G

    You must enable USB debugging on the LG Lucid 4G so that the phone can be recognised by ADB once connected to your PC.

    To do that, on the device, go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging and make sure that the USB Debugging option is checked.

    Step 4 – Root the LG Lucid 4G

    Now that you have installed ADB on your PC, installed the LG USB drivers and enabled USB debugging on the device itself it is now time to root the device.

    To do this, with USB debugging enabled on the device, connect the device to your PC.

    Once it is recognised and the USB drivers have been installed for the device it should be recognised by the PC.

    Now open the folder you made in step 2 which contains the root package and run the Run.bat file.

    Follow the instructions that appear on-screen to root the device.

    This guide will show you how to root the LG L5 II (LG-E450 & LG-E455)

    What’s needed to root the LG L5 II?

    In order to root the LG L5 II you will need the following:

    • The LG L5 II in your hand which you wish to root
    • Access to a PC

    Step 1 – Download the USB drivers for the LG L5 II on to your PC

    The first thing to do is install the Huawei USB drivers on to your PC. We list the USB drivers in this article.

    Step 2 – Download the rooting program to your PC

    In order to root the Huawei P6 you must download a rooting program to your PC which you can get from here.

    Please note that the program is in Chinese but it easy enough to follow once installed as there is one main button to click which performs the rooting process.

    Download the program to your computer and then install it.

    Step 3 – Enable USB Debugging on the LG L5 II

    On the device itself you must enable USB Debugging. We explain how to do this in the article here.

    Once you have done that proceed to the next step.

    Step 4 – Root the LG L5 II

    Now that you have downloaded and installed the rooting program on to your PC and enable USB Debugging on the LG L5 II itself connect it to your PC.

    With the device connected to your PC, on the device itself, pull down the notification bar and it should show that is connected via USB.

    Tap that and choose MTP Connection as the USB connection method to use.

    Run the rooting program you installed on to your PC.

    Click the Root button and then wait for the process to complete – it has four parts.

    Once completed disconnect the LG L5 II from your PC and restart it.

    Replace Vroot Superuser with SuperSU

    You should notice, once it restarts, that you now have a new application called Superuser which means that you have successfully rooted the device. You may however wish to replace this program with the more commonly known SuperSU.

    To do that download the script to change this from here. Again, save it to an easy to find location on your PC and extract it to its own folder.

    Make sure that the LG L5 II is connected to your PC.

    Copy the mrw folder to the main root of your internal storage (it is called Phone in Windows).

    On the LG L5 II itself go to the Play Store and download the Terminal Emulator application, install it and run it.

    With the program running type the following command (press Enter after each one):

    Su

    Allow root permission when asked.

    Type the next command and press Enter again when done.

    sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh

    Wait for the device to complete the process. When done it will automatically reboot.

    So that the phone is recognised for when you plug it in to your PC you must download the LG Optimus L9 USB drivers and install them – you can get them from here.

    Step 2 –Download the LG Optimus L9 root files

    In order to root the phone you must first download the root file batch file which you can get from here. Once you have downloaded the file rename it so that it is called Runme_L9.bat.

    You also need to download the root file itself which you can get from here. Download the file and save it in an easy to find location such as your desktop and extract it to its own folder.

    Step 3 – Root the LG Optimus L9

    Now that we have downloaded the necessary files it is time to start rooting the LG Optimus L9.

    The first thing that needs to be done is to enable USB Debugging on the device.

    To do this, on the device itself, go to Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging and make sure the option is checked.

    If you do not see the Developer Options menu go to Menu > Settings > About Phone > Software Information and tap the Build Number option until it tells you that you are a developer and that developer options have been enabled.

    Connect the phone to your PC.

    Choose USB LG Mode as the connection type when prompted on the device.

    Right-click the Runme_L9.bat file and choose Run as Administrator.

    In the prompt that appears choose Restore My Data and wait for the process to finish.

    On the device go to the Play Store and download BusyBox and SuperSU and install them both.

    Reboot the device once done and you should now have successfully rooted the LG Optimus L9.

    Step 2 –Download the LG Optimus F6 root file

    In order to root the phone you must first download the root file to your PC which you can get from here. Download the file and save it to your PC and then extract it to an easy to find location such as the desktop.

    Step 3 – Root the LG Optimus F6

    Connect the LG Optimus F6 in to your PC. Providing you installed the USB drivers correctly from step 1 the phone should be recognised. Now, browse to the root program folder on your desktop from step 2 and run the run.bat file.

    Wait for the process to finish – DO NOT DISCONNECT THE PHONE FROM YOUR PC DURING THIS TIME

    Once the process has finished look on the device for a new application called SuperSU which means you have successfully rooted the device.
