I had problems on step 5. After I started Odin it failed on recovery and on my phone it said, ” Custom Binary(RECOVERY) Blocked By FRP Lock”.

UPDATE: Found out all I had to do was go to developer options and turn on OEM

We see how it might look like this, and understand your viewpoint. Please read our response below.

We have not always had an installation service, but customers have always needed help rooting their device. During this time, our team would get the best instructions for rooting the particular device and publish it to our blog to help others with the same device.

These guides still continue to help many, but in some cases, due to firmware updates, android version upgrades, etc., the phone the guide was written around has outgrown the guide.

Maintaining hundreds of guides in this environment of updates is simply not possible with the resources we have. Our solution was to partner with a team of rooting specialists who have the knowledge to know whether the phone can be rooted safely and this is called the installation service. By the way, we do not make any money on this service.

Finally, all rooting guides on the web at some point become outdated to the point where the instructions could lead to causing problems with the device. If you’re feeling adventurous you can still attempt to root the device yourself, but there is a greater risk of bricking the device. This is why on each rooting guide we say we no longer maintain these guides and direct readers to the safer option.

If you have ideas on how we could improve this messaging, please let us know.
